Neues MOU bis 2030 zwischen ECA und UEFA das auch die neue Verteilung der Einnahmen an den europäischen Club Wettbewerben regelt.
A central element of this agreement is the shared priority to nurture European club football at every level. This will manifest through a new revenue distribution model for the 2024-2027 cycle, boasting an unprecedented increase of solidarity payments that will benefit clubs in domestic league competitions.
The share reserved in the new cycle to clubs not participating in the league phase of UEFA competitions will increase to a total of 10%: besides the 3% reserved for clubs eliminated in the qualifying rounds, the share for clubs which have not participated at all will grow to 7%, (up from the current 4%), securing €440m per season – being €1.32bn over the cycle – in what is the sole redistribution scheme for clubs at a pan-European level. The new distribution system for participating clubs will give greater focus to participation (from 25% to 27,5% will be shared equally) and performance (from 30% to 37,5%), while the existing two pillars of market pool and coefficient will be merged and reduced (from 45% to 35%). Full details of the new system will be disclosed as soon as the technical work has concluded.
The MoU also captures the evolution of UEFA Club Competitions SA – the joint venture between UEFA and the ECA – to further drive the commercial development of UEFA’s club competitions.

We have come such a long way over the past cycle. There has been an enormous shift in the role clubs play in the decisions that shape European club football. Today, we are a dynamic, democratic and inclusive institution – seeking influence and a voice for the many, not the few.
I want to be very clear what our mission has always been. We are a community of clubs of all sizes and people of all backgrounds with a common purpose – to grow and protect the European game for all clubs in Europe, working in partnership with all our stakeholders. We want to grow together in win-win partnerships. We bring European clubs and stakeholders together.
- If you had said 2 years ago that we would have a commercial and corporate Joint Venture with UEFA, increasing European competition revenues by over 25% – people would have said it’s impossible.
Our partnership with UEFA is so important. We don’t always agree – far from it. But we always discuss things constructively – with dialogue, common understanding and searching for solutions. And, with thanks to President Čeferin and our UEFA colleagues, I am pleased to say that this morning we signed a new MOU with UEFA which sets our path to 2030 as the sole representative of European clubs in Europe and worldwide. I want to be clear, as clubs we have obligations under our MOU – we must all honour them.
- If you had said 2 years ago that we would have an MOU with FIFA to 2030, which increases our club benefits by 70% and charts a way towards a new global competition and a Joint Venture for the men’s and women’s Club World Cups – people would have said it’s impossible.
- If you had said 2 years ago that 333 ECA members would have access to a dedicated seat on the Board, and that we would have launched a new women’s membership – people would have said it’s impossible.
It’s hard to believe but in just 24 months, we have almost doubled our size from 247 clubs rising towards 500 clubs today; and that’s just the beginning.

Diese Initiative könnte ja das vorläufige „Aus“ für alle saudischen Spekulationen um eine CL-Teilnahme bedeuten, oder sehe ich das falsch?
In Anbetracht eines solchen agreements könnte die UEFA ja kaum unilateral entscheiden, Wildcards zu vergeben, ohne einen Eklat mit ECA zu provozieren. Und Letztere wird ja nun wirklich kein Interesse an einer Teilnahme der Saudis (= sportliche Aufwertung dieser Vereine) haben, wenn man das aggressive Transfergebaren im Hinterkopf hat.

Habe es ja vorher schon versucht zu erklären.
Die Zusammenarbeit Kooperation und vertragliche Verflechtungen der ECA und diverser anderer stakeholder (Ligen, Spieler etc), mit der UEFA ist inzwischen extrem eng .
Das JV zwischen ECA und UEFA, dass es ja schon seit 2 Jahren gibt, schließt ein unilaterales Vorgehen der UEFA unmöglich.
Die Story mit Saudi Arabian war pure Spekulation von irgendwelchen Leuten die von den Zusammenhängen keine Ahnung haben.
Die europäischen clubwettbewerbe unter dem Dach der UEFA wird inzwischen maßgeblich von den Clubs über die ECA bestimmt.
Die ECA schließt ja auch den Rahmenterminkalendar mit der FIFA ab, nach dem sich alle Kontinentalverbände richten müssen.
Gleiches gilt für das FFP.
Man muss sich mal lösen von den alten Vorstellungen dass da bei der UEFA 1-2-3 Leute heute noch irgendetwas in dunklen Zimmern und schon garnicht gegen Clubs entscheiden können.
Das mag bei FIFA oder anderen Kontinentalverbänden noch so sein aber in Europa mit ECA und UEFA sicherlich nicht mehr.

Carro als einziger deutscher Vertreter im board des JV nachdem Kahn ausgeschieden ist
Carro wird überdies einen Platz im Aufsichts-Gremium des UCC SA, des „Joint Venture“ zwischen der Europäischen Fußball-Union (UEFA) und der ECA, einnehmen. In dieser hochrangigen Expertengruppe löst er als einziger deutscher Vertreter Oliver Kahn ab, der seinen Platz nach dem Ausscheiden beim FC Bayern München im Frühjahr 2023 freigemacht hat.
